The super-aromatic bouquet of flowers, black truffles, cedar, lead pencil, and red fruits is followed by one of the most powerful and concentrated Lafites I have tasted.

FAL87: Helles Karmingranat, mit feinen orangeroten Reflexen, sehr breiter Wasserrand. In der Nase nussige Aromen, etwas Dörrobst, nach Balsamessig und Madeira, etwas Powidl und Veloursleder. Am Gaumen eine frische Säurestruktur, rotbeeriges Konfit, zitroniger Touch, ist überraschend gut in Schuss, hat noch Leben in sich, durchaus noch trinkbar, höchst erstaunlich für einen so schwach beschriebenen Jahrgang!

FAL100: Mittleres Rubingranat mit orangefarbenen Reflexen und breiterer Randaufhellung, insgesamt gemessen am Alter eine unglaublich dunkle Farbe. In der Nase einladende Kirschen- und Zwetschkenfruchtanklänge, tolle Süße, hat ein facettenreiches, attraktives Bukett, zart tabakige Nuancen, Gewürze, Vanille, Nougat, feine ätherische Anklänge. Am Gaumen wieder eine saftige, dunkelbeerige Frucht, feste, anhaltende Tannine, wirkt ungemein jugendlich, zeigt eine schier unglaubliche Frische, feine Brombeerfrucht im Abgang, 80 Jahre und kein bisschen müde. Ein unvergesslicher Wein, der jedem Weinfreund Respekt abverlangt. So viel zur Frage »Kann man einen Wein nach so langer Zeit noch trinken?«!

FAL89: In der Nase eher verhalten, mit Luft feine Nuancen von Minze, rotbeerige Anklänge, zarte Kräuterwürze, nach einer halben Stunde etwas Karamell und getrocknete Dillspitzen. Am Gaumen feine rotbeerige Frucht, zitronige Nuancen, mittlere Textur, durchaus als elegant zu bezeichnen, mittlere Länge.
