Only wines, champagnes, and spirits that have been verified for integrity and authenticity upon consign (inbound goods) by us are offered at our wine auctions. The sold wines, champagnes, and spirits are shipped to the buyer only upon receipt of payment. Our customers across six continents, particularly in the Chinese or Asian regions, offer you the chance for a high return on investment.
Consignment of Wine Rarities and Spirits
All wines must be present at our wine auction house before the auction.
You can either bring the wines to us in person, or for smaller quantities, send them by post. For larger quantities, we can assist with packaging and arrange shipment through our freight contacts. If possible, we can also arrange for a personal pick-up. Following the receipt, your wine collection will be inspected, described, and photographed. Subsequently, the wine rarities, champagnes, and spirits will be listed on our website for respective wine auctions, promoted through our Flaschenpost, and also featured and listed on wine-searcher.com Additionally, for the Fine Wine Auctions, a printed auction catalogue is published. All wines included are extensively described, and the highlights are illustrated.
Costs and Conditions
When appraising, we will provide you with three prices. The reserve price, the lower estimate, and the upper estimate. The reserve price is known only to the consignor and the auction house. Bidding will not start below this amount. The range is published in the catalogue, and the bidding starts at the lower estimate. The upper estimate represents the average market value. There are no upfront payments required upon your consignment. All expenses will be deducted from the auction proceeds.
You typically pay a commission of approximately 15% (*) on the hammer price, along with €6.80 insurance per €1,000 of the reserve price as well as a lot fee of €5 per lot. These three items are subject to a 19% VAT. The premium itself is tax-exempt for private consignments at German auctions.
(*) The commission rate ranges between 10% and 25%, depending on the quality and condition of the bottles. Typically, it is 10% for Bordeaux 1-5 Cru, renowned wines of the world, and those in good condition. However, it can go up to 25% for complete mixed cellars, including many individual bottles, partial disposal of damaged wines, and cleaning of the bottles before we can photograph them for presentation on the internet.
For sought-after items, we typically auction approximately 80% to 100% of the wines consigned in each Fine Wine Auction. The unsold wines will be offered in one of the upcoming wine auctions. There are no additional costs for storage or renewed lot fees incurred in this process.
Auction Contract and Payment
"You inform us whether you prefer the proceeds via bank transfer or in cash. Typically, payments are made approximately six weeks after the conclusion of the online or Fine Wine Auction. After we have gathered your address, bank, and contact details and entered your wine rarities and spirits into our system, including photographing them, you will receive a consignment contract from us.

The more precise your information about the wines, the better we can evaluate them. Especially for older and valuable bottles, the condition of the labels and the fill level play a significant role. We strive to provide you with the evaluation of your wines promptly.
Criteria for a successful sale of your white and red wines, champagnes, and spirits with the Munich Wine Company
The evaluations for your wine rarities particularly depend on the producers, vintages, and condition, especially the fill level, label, and capsule. Prestigious Bordeaux and Burgundy, top Italian wines, renowned Californian selections, along with other major wines of the world, continue to be the bestsellers in wine auctions. However, Champagne rarities, as well as Port and Madeira, can also fetch top prices. Newly in focus are Armagnac, Cognac, and high-end whiskies from Scotland and Japan. The naturally declining availability of older vintage wines alongside consistent demand and the substantial price increases of recent vintages from famous producers in Bordeaux and Burgundy tend to indicate the expectation of continued high growth.
