Fine Wine Auctions at the Munich Wine Company

Article descriptions:

are statements of opinion only, and are not binding. It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine the overall condition of the item before bidding on it. Items can be picked up by appointment only. We offer free delivery within the Munich city limits for bidders spending over 2,000 €.

Payment and collection of goods:

Payment is due within fourteen days after the bill is received. We accept cash and electronic bank transfers (IBAN / BIC or Wire Transfer). We do not accept credit cards or PayPal. All payment is done in Euros. The first possible date to collect your items is three working days after the close of a Fine Wine Auction. An appointment to pick up your items is required. Items can also be mailed using UPS.

Bidder numbers:

Bidder numbers are handed out when you arrive at the wine auction, after you have completed your registration form. We may ask for identification in order to verify the information you give. Please be sure to indicate on your registration form how you prefer to receive your goods (pick up by appointment, email, etc).

Buyer’s Premium:

The following will be added to the hammer price: 15% buyer’s premium, a lot fee of 5 € per lot, as well as shipping and handling (where applicable). These charges are subject to 19% VAT. Tax refunds are not available to private customers. Business customers should contact us regarding their tax options.

Lot descriptions:

We do our best to describe condition of the items as accurately as possible. However, it is the buyer’s responsibility to determine what they feel to be the condition of the item. Items are auctioned in the condition that they are in at the time that lot is called. Please consult our business terms and conditions. For items that are marked in the catalog with a star, 19% VAT will be added to the hammer price.

Written Bids:

If you cannot attend the wine auction in person, you may submit your bids in writing. Written bids must be received at least one day in advance of the wine auction. Please use the written bid form (available in our catalog or as a PDF download from our website) to place your bids. For the objects which you are interested in, please give us the catalog lot number, the name of the lot, and your bid. In case of discrepancy, the lot number is used to identify the lot, and it is binding. The amount you enter serves as your highest bid. Bidding is handled in a conservative manner, i.e. your bid will be placed at the increment above the next highest bid and will only go up to the amount you listed if someone else is bidding against you and raises your bid incrementally up to your top value. If two identical bids are received for the same lot, the bid will go to the person whose bid was received first. Please send us your signed bidding form by e-mail or fax.

Wine Auction Protocol:

Fine Wine Auctions run at a rate of approximately 150 lots per hour. We cannot guarantee this, however. When bidding, please hold your bidder number high so the auctioneer can easily see your bid.

Shipping and Handling:

At your request, we can send your goods to you by e-mail after complete payment has been made. Shipment within Germany of up to twelve standard bottles costs approximately 10 €, plus packing materials. When packages are valued above 500 €, there is also an additional insurance charge. With larger quantities, the buyer should arrange shipping with the company of his choice. In no instances is Munich Wine Company responsible for damage or loss incurred during shipment. Mailing of packages will occur no earlier than three workdays after the end of the wine auction. UPS is our primary provider. Shipping costs outside of Germany are subject to UPS fares. » Shipping costs overview
